Joo Eunjae is at the end of his rope. After the untimely deaths of several loved ones, he has had to take a leave of absence from school, only to be tormented by recurring nightmares of a ghostlike creature molesting him. With little left to live for, it seems just his luck when a strange man saves him from being hit by a bus—only to threaten him with a gun immediately after.
Eunjae awakens with a start in his apartment, unsure how he got there after the bus encounter. He then finds San, the very man who threatened him, in his living room. He discovers that he was possessed by a ghost and was supposed to die; but thanks to the intervention of San, a goblin, he remains alive. Now much more vulnerable to spiritual attacks, San must protect Eunjae while the various agents of the afterworld determine what happens next. As Eunjae spends time with San, he gradually learns more about those who work for the afterworld, all while growing closer to the peculiar goblin.
